Good morning Explorers ! Today is Wednesday and I woke up feeling a bit blasé with a bit of a headache .Probably from being out in the heat yesterday .My poor van does not have a/c so with it being 99 degrees yesterday it was stiflingly hot and the humidity was horrible.
It is not a sunny morning as I peer outside ,it is overcast and gray though my computer is telling me it is partly sunny .I wish it would rain ,but the little afternoon storms seem to have skipped the whole of my town and gone around every day this week . A little respite would be nice . A heat advisory from 11 to 8 pm has just listed for part of North Carolina as it will be 100 degrees today with high humidity . Again to anyone working outside or having to be out for long periods of time ,drink plenty of fluids and stay hydrated. This goes for other areas across the world dealing with heat as well .
The tropics are showing 2 areas of disturbance this morning . The yellow X by South America (AL94) in the Caribbean sea is at 10% chance to form in the next 48 hours .It is moving westward . The yellow X lower right has a 0% chance to form in the next 48 hours but a 30% chance in the next 7 days. Yesterday I wrote about the dust storm coming off South Africa , one could assume that it might be hindering the tropical disturbance from strengthening .
Todays earthquakes for the past 12 hours were 2,3s,and 4s . The biggest earthquake during the last 12 hours was a 5.6 ,though probably bigger or upgraded/ downgraded. I was asleep so I don't know the exact magnitude it came in at ,though I assume upgrade, downgrade was possible . This earthquake was 10 hours ago. The 5.6 was in the Nicobar Islands which is part of India region. It was in the ocean . It was a bit away from the Australian Sunda convergent boundary. This area subducts at 44mm per year . The Nicobar Islands are in the Indian Ocean and in Southeast Asia and are a part of India .Great Nicobar Island is part of UNESCO as part of the World Network of Biosphere Reserves .Nicobar Island is about 711 square miles big and has around 36,844 people living there . The island was created by the colliding forces of the Australian plate with Eurasia .
According to news I have been reading ,Axial seamount off Oregon may be gearing up to erupt again .This is considered the most active volcano in the Pacific Northwest and located about 289 miles west of Sunset Beach Oregon . Axial is a shield volcano .It has erupted 3 times in the past 25 years in 1998, 2011 ,and 2015 . Scientists have been studying this volcano ,and have said the magma chamber is filling again and there have been hundreds of small earthquakes in the area each day .
Well I hope you all have enjoyed my update today .
